South Africa is Gorgeous!

So we're to weeks into our vacation in South Africa. We had a great time in the Krueger National Park where we did our safari. We've been to Jo-Berg and Durban as well and now we're on our way to Port Elizabeth and then to Cape Town. Below are some pictures from our safari. We'll be sure to post more later!

Ever been to Strobist.Com?

If you've never been to Strobist.Com you should definitely check it out! It has some great fundamental lessons on using your on camera strobe off camera. It started out just as a blog but it has received considerable praise from amateurs and professionals alike. Adobe Lightroom is Awesome!

Tip of the week; if you do a lot of shooting and haven't tried it yet, look at Adobe's Lightroom. It's really changed the way we process photos and decide on which ones to keep and which ones to throw away. It's a great program and it's not too expensive with cool presets for adding effects such as B&W or Sepia (and other effects) to your photos. We're back!

Sorry to all of our readers it's taken so long to write again! (all five of you, but thanks so much for reading!) We've been incredibly busy with photography and life and that we have severely neglected our blog. However, we're back and that's what counts.
We have updated some pictures on our website with more to come. So if you haven't already, check it out and let us know what you think.
We're excited to be going to South Africa next month. We'll have a lot of pictures so we'll be sure to post some as soon as they become available.

Arkansas

We just recently got back from Arkansas. We unfortunately had to bury my grandmother's ashes so the nature of the trip wasn't the best to start with. However, we tried to make the best of it with our family so we took some pictures while we were there. Erica took a few of my sister-in-law Heidi in a wedding dress down in a stream and through different parts of the extraordinarily small town of Cotter, AR. I took some pics of the kids around an old barn that is owned by a family friend. Anyways, we hope you enjoy the photos and we hope everyone reading this gets inspired to do photography more and more!

Wedding Fair!

We have our very first wedding fair coming up on May 17th! It's at the Long Beach Hyatt hotel. If you know anyone getting married or getting engaged tell them to come down and check us out. We will have multiple pictures, albums, and even a flat screen TV with a slideshow of our images. It should be a lot of fun and also educational for us! Hope to see you there, it starts at 11.

First, your professionalism: you took the pictures quickly and efficiently...taking every picture we asked for and more with a minimum of stress. I appreciate that you knew that we wanted to experience everything for the wedding. We've been to weddings where the family has missed the entire reception time and for that we thank you. The latest and the greatest from Canon came out a few months ago. However, it is still the talk of the town. Check out www.dpreview.com and then click on Reviews for the Canon 5d Mark II. It is probably the best camera to dollar ratio out there. Hope you enjoy!

Photo Tip for the Week

Want to take better pictures? Try using the rule of thirds. To do this, divide the camera view into thirds. Place your subject on either the left third or the right third to create a more dynamic composition. Most commonly subjects are placed in the middle of the frame but, by using the rule of thirds, it will create lasting images that you can share with friends and family! Have fun!
